The discovery of the unidentified body of a black woman becomes a media after-thought when Chrystal, a white girl, is reported missing.  The community explodes with a lust to find her and exact revenge upon her assailant.  Suspended in a nether world, Chrystal joins forces with Trinity and Shannon to identify their killers and to exculpate Jordan, her boyfriend, who has become the target of a white detective’s investigation.  Girl In The Woods skewers the media while taking on the awful societal reality that women of color-especially trans women, are disposable.
